Throughout one’s career, there can be a progression from simple to more complex responsibilities and an expansion in the sphere of influence—the people that a professional might learn from or contribute to through their work. However, each domain also represents an opportunity for deeper and fuller development of the competencies related to that area of expertise. This Framework refers to deeper competency development as “levels”. Because of the fluid nature of positions in the ISL field, individuals often have responsibilities and capabilities at different levels across the four domains of competencies.

You may find it useful to keep the following questions in mind as you explore the Framework:
